Tai Chi (Tai Chi Chuan or Taijiquan)

Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan (Tai Chi) Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan (Tai Chi) — Tai Chi Chuan is a martial art that is often misunderstood. Many have been led to believe that “Tai Chi” is just a relaxation exercise; and a way of generating health when you are too old for any other exercise.

While Tai Chi Chuan is a way to increase your physical health; this is only possible if you practice Tai Chi Chuan with the right intent. Tai Chi Chuan applications are no different than those of other martial arts. What separates Tai Chi from other martial arts is the intense detail given to posture, energy and the motion of the form. We teach every student with this in mind.

You don’t have to be a fighter to be a Tai Chi Chuan practitioner. The movements however, are best understood when the original martial arts applications are realized. Everything is taught in a slow controlled environment.

Traditional Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan Long Form

We teach the traditional Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan Long form... developed by Yang Cheng Fu and his disciples, from the original Yang Lu Chan family line.

The form is often traditionally referred to as the 108 posture form... however this number may vary, depending upon how one breaks down the movements.

The Long Form has been also referred to as the 85 posture form by Fu Zhongwen, and the 103 movement form by Yang Zhen Duo. There are also numerous other ways of counting the form postures. Because of the way we break down the form into 90 postures, we do not wish to name the form as such, but rather refer to it simply as the Traditional Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan Long Form.

The order of the postures are listed in the table below. Postures in Yellow are those postures learned in the first section. Postures in purple are those learned in the second section. And postures in red are those learned in the third section.
