Kung Fu

In addition to Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan (Internal Kung Fu), Sifu West's teaches a form of Shaolin 5 Animal Kung Fu. This is not part of our regular teaching, however student's may request the learning of this form after they have studied the Yang form for a substantial amount of time.

Shaolin Five Animal Form (Wu Xing Chuan or Ng Ying Kuen)

Shaolin 5 Animal Kung Fu Shaolin 5 Animal Kung Fu — The movements and characteristics of the Dragon, Tiger, Crane, Snake and Leopard are imitated in the form and the nature of each animal.

This form of training enhances both internal and external strengths. Shaolin animal form techniques improve balance, endurance, stamina, flexibility and graceful movement.

This form is moderately demanding, however can be modified to be practiced at any age or fitness level. The Shaolin Five Animal Form is full of flowing, graceful, circular movements. Martial applications of each movement are reviewed and practiced during the learning stages of the form.
